I’m excited to tell you I have completed my first year as Karen Waters’ buyers’ agent. It has been quite an adventurous year and I’m rolling up my sleeves and am ready to jump into 2009! I spent many hours this year working with buyers, learning as much as possible about the Chittenden County market and the many aspects of homeownership, previewing properties, and taking educational classes. I will complete the requirements for the Accredited Buyer’s Representative (ABR) designation when I complete my final education class.
A little bit about me. I’m from Poolesville, Maryland (about 30 miles north of Washington, DC). I have a degree in Environmental Studies, and I’m very excited that finally it’s cool to be “green,” especially here in the Green Mountains. Before I moved to Vermont in 2003, I worked at the National Wildlife Federation as a senior educator working with schools and communities throughout the mid-Atlantic states to develop wildlife habitats at schools, homes, and businesses. I also spent a summer in the woods studying the American chestnut tree.
Volunteering has always been important to me and I’ve been involved with many different groups to preserve our lands and educate our people about the importance of conservation, including Friends of Seneca Creek State Park, AmeriCorps - Volunteer Maryland!, Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary, and Potomac Appalachian Trail Club. Currently I volunteer with the Greyhound Rescue of Vermont and various events with Spectrum Youth and Family Services. I’m also a board member for my condominium development. I live in Essex Junction with my niece, cat and dog.
